Stephan Raw

Lecture and showing of his work

Trends, thought, principles, hypocrisy.
Language is a huge umbrella.
There are 3 stages and types to language:
Back of mind
Think about processing
Oral

We make language visible – type, text (paper and computer) and we go through a choosing process to make this language a visible body of text.
Raw says rather than sitting there thinking about ideas and design, we should get doing, creating, the ideas should flow. We should create multiple designs that are very similar, but different, to get it perfect.

He collaborated with the Laureate’s choice, Carol Ann Duffy – Bottle’s of Sherry.

Raw likes to create typographical art works that can involve people and which they can be proud to have been a part of.  He talked about his own practice and how the work he had created over the years has effected and even helped others.
